Teen killed in crash on Highway 50 in Pueblo West

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — A 15-year-old girl was killed and two other people were injured in a crash on Highway 50 in Pueblo West Wednesday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and Purcell Boulevard. Troopers said a Honda Civic was turning left from eastbound Highway 50 onto northbound Purcell Boulevard when it collided with a Chevrolet Traverse that was headed westbound on Highway 50.

The passenger in the Honda was ejected and died on the scene. Pueblo District 70 identified her as Jordan Scheinert. Jordan was a 10th-grader in the District 70 Online School, according to the district.

The driver of the Honda, a 72-year-old woman from Pueblo West, sustained unknown injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, at 18-year-old woman from Pueblo West, also sustained unknown injuries.

Troopers said all three people involved were wearing their seatbelts.

Troopers said alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
