Crews respond to fire north of Peyton

UPDATE: According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the fire has been contained.

UPDATE: The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says the fire has been reduced to three acres with isolated spots flaring up.

UPDATE: The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire team is also working the fire north of Peyton.

According to the sheriff’s office, crews are set up near the intersection of Fremont Fort Drive and Warriors Path Drive.

The fire is estimated to be 3-5 acres big.

Officials say it is not posing a risk to any structures at this time but it is moving slowly to the north.

UPDATE: According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, the fire is around three acres big and is in a hard to reach area.

Peyton County is the lead agency responding.

ORIGINAL: PEYTON, Colo. — Fire crews are on the way to a fire north of Peyton off Highway 24.

Emergency officials learned about the fire around 3:45 p.m. Monday afternoon.

At this time, there is no word on how big the fire is or if anyone’s lives or property are in danger.
