(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) who was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Wednesday morning has been identified by EPSO.
EPSO sent a press release, stating that the deputy involved was identified as 15-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Greg Stoneham. EPSO said Deputy Stoneham was not responding to a call for service at the time of the crash, and he was driving a marked patrol car.
Stoneham was not injured in the crash. He has been placed on administrative leave per EPSO policy.

A pedestrian that was allegedly hit by an El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy vehicle has died, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
CSP said that around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 they were notified of the crash, which happened in the 2700 block of East Las Vegas Street.
CSP confirmed the pedestrian fatality to FOX21 News and stated that there were no other injuries reported. CSP is the investigating agency for this crash and will provide additional updates when available.
CSP asked the public to avoid the scene while the investigation continues, as roads near the area remain closed.
