Colorado Springs Special Olympics got a chance to shine at the Air Force women’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena.
The athletes played a game at halftime of the women’s game against Nevada. They also participated in a clinic with the Falcons before the game.
Those involved said opportunities like this mean a lot to the organization.
“With a college of this caliber giving us the time on their court and the awareness is huge,” Michelle Pewters, Special Olympics southeast regional manager, said. “It’s big for our organization because that’s our purpose. We want to diversify. We want to make people know this is a program that everyone can join, not just people with disabilities, so it was pretty cool.”
