It’s not just southern Coloradans who are going crazy over the U.S. Senior Open at the Broadmoor Golf Club this week. Fans from all over the country, and even the world, came to experience championship golf in our backyard.
The Barker family came from Nashville, Tennessee to claim a Christmas gift just a few months late.
“My son, last Christmas, bought me some tickets for the U.S. Senior Open, so we came out last Sunday, and have just had a wonderful time,” Norm Barker said.
For the Barker family, this weekend just means a little bit more. Their goal this week is simply to make memories.
“We’re creating a lot of memories and a lot of really good stories, which I’m excited to share later down the road,” Norm’s daughter, Ashley Barker, said.
“It’s just a memory,” Norm said. “It’s going be a memory for a long time, and just to be with them is wonderful. It’s been a great time.”
“It’s awesome,” Norm’s son, Zachary, said. “We’re having a great time. We’ve been following a bunch of different players around.”
“It’s exciting to be able to share this kind of experience with your family, because a lot of times, people don’t get to do these things, and fewer people get to do it with their family,” Zachary said. “So being able to get to share that entirely, it’s an amazing experience.”
