FALCON, Colo. — The Falcon High School football team honored former Falcon football player Austin Worbington Friday night.
Worbington, who passed away this summer, was a former Falcon football player from Peyton and a freshman at Colorado Mesa University football team last fall.
His former high school honored him by retiring his football number, a very emotional moment for his family, friends, teammates and coaches.
“It just means that Austin’s legacy will continue to live on, he will continue too, touch the lives of so many people,” Jamie Worbington, Austin’s mom said.
“But everybody always said, that his heart was bigger than anybody else’s, they always said, that his passion his intensity, and his character, his leadership, all of those characteristics, made him who he was” Worbington said.
Falcon High School went on to win the game, beating Mitchell 42 to 8.
