CSU-Pueblo introduced a new member of the Pack Monday afternoon as Dr. Paul Plinske took the reigns as the new Thunderwolves athletic director.
Plinske comes to Pueblo with more than 15 years of experience managing Division II and Division III athletics. Most recently, he spent five years at Nebraska-Kearney where he also served as director of athletics. Plinske said he hopes to use his past experience to bring more success to Thunderwolves athletics.
“I’ve worked at institutions that have won national championships, and I’ve worked at schools that have cut sports,” Plinske said. “I have a good perspective on what it takes to build a championship program and I also have a greater perspective on what it takes to avoid cutting sports. Those two give me a tremendously well-rounded background that will allow me to jump full force into this endeavor and be able to support the sports and the coaches that lead them on this campus, because we all want to be successful, and it’s now figuring out the ingredients to that success.”
Plinske is the school’s 13th athletic director. He’ll manage the department that has more than 500 student athletes and 22 athletics teams.
