Two-vehicle crash on Highway 9 claims life of 92-year-old woman

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. — A 92-year-old Canon City woman was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 9.

It happened just before 10:30 a.m. just north of milepost 9.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the victim, identified as Myra Proctor, was driving a white 1995 Buick out of a private driveway located at 9530 Highway 9 when a 1995 Peterbilt semitractor-trailer hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with a flagstone skidded into the southbound lane and struck the driver’s side of Proctor’s car.

The Buick was pushed northwest as it rotated clockwise and came to rest off the west side of the road, facing north.

The driver of the semitractor, 54-year-old Bryan Ellis of Canon City, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

Proctor was wearing her seatbelt and was transported with life-threatening injuries to St. Thomas More Hospital, where she later died.
