PUEBLO, Colo. — A Thornton woman killed in a crash Sunday afternoon may have fallen asleep before her car drifted off the road, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 96 about five miles east of Boone in Pueblo County. A 2009 Pontiac Vibe was headed westbound when it went off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, and the car went off the left side of the road. It rolled twice and came to rest on its wheels.
The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Thornton, was ejected. She died on the scene. Troopers said she was not wearing her seatbelt.
Troopers said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. They said the driver likely fell asleep.
