COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Emergency crews responded to a shooting at the Hooters in the Citadel Mall Saturday night. Both Colorado Springs Police and Colorado Springs Fire responded just before 7:00 p.m.
Preliminary investigation has revealed there was a disturbance between two groups of individuals. A suspected drive-by shooting then occurred outside of the mall. The possible suspect vehicle is a white newer model 4 door sedan with darkly tinted windows.
Police said one man and one woman were shot and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say there was a third victim, another male, who sustained a graze injury. He did not require medical treatment.
One person has been detained. Police are still investigating whether or not they were involved.
Police said they will be at the Citadel Mall for several more hours investigating the scene and clearing out any customers or employees that are still inside. They also are looking through mall security cameras to help identify the car.
Police said the mall went into a shelter-in-place status after the shots were fired. Tactical enforcement units from the Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office cleared the mall and escorted people out of businesses.
