COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Monday, the west leg of the Space Village Avenue/Marksheffel Road Intersection will be closed for approximately 10 days to allow construction of the next phase of the project. North and south traffic will be maintained as well as access to and from the east leg of the intersection. Traffic will be detoured to State Highway 94 to the north via U.S. Highway 24 to the west.

Access to local businesses will be maintained from the west. This closure is necessary to construct the western portion of the new roadway in the vicinity of the Space Village intersection, as well as work required in the intersection.

Please note that the portion of Marksheffel Road between Fontaine and Bradley will remain closed until approximately October 14.

The Marksheffel South Improvements are part of an 11-mile long, $33.6 million transportation corridor project in coordination with Colorado Springs, Peterson AFB, CDOT, Fountain and El Paso County. Widening, safety improvements and intersection upgrades will extend from U.S. 24 to Link Road. The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2017.
