Parker tavern hosting fundraiser for Victory Service Dogs Saturday

You can help veterans take steps toward normalcy this weekend. Victory Service Dogs is holding a fundraiser to help train service dogs for veterans with varying disabilities from their service.

Whether it’s PTSD, physical limitations, or other challenges, Victory Service Dogs trains each service animal to the specific needs of the veteran that will become its owner.

It costs about $7,000 for each dog to be trained, and they have more than 20 veterans waiting to get back into the normal swing of things.

“They’re our best friends,” Victory Service Dogs vice president Kenny Morrow said. “We have daily issues from our disabilities we suffer. Like I have PTSD and traumatic brain injury, and my dog actually helps me function, and he keeps me calm.”

The fundraiser is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Takoda Tavern in Parker. You can also donate at their website,
