Parents, kids learn about child abduction prevention

News

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Parents and children are getting a hands-on lesson about child abduction prevention.

The U.S. Taekwondo Center is teaching children what to do if someone ever tries to take them – it’s a technique called the “starfish.”

If that doesn’t work and they do get picked up, they’re told to claw at the person’s face as hard as they can.

The instructors say there’s no perfect technique to get out of a child abduction situation, but if kids have an idea of what to do and are able to practice it, it’s more likely they’ll be able to save themselves.
