One dead, two seriously injured in Park County crash


PARK COUNTY, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash that claimed the life of one and seriously injured two others on Friday evening.

The crash occurred on Colorado 9 at MP 67 shortly before 6:30 p.m. According to authorities, a Chevrolet 1500 was traveling southbound on Colorado 9 in the northbound lane and a GMC Acadia was traveling northbound on the same road. Both vehicles collided head-on and traveled off the right side of the road.

The Chevrolet’s driver, 24-year-old Jose Hernandez of Fairplay, Colorado, and the front passenger were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured. The rear passenger was flown in to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver with serious injuries.

The driver of the GMC, 47-year-old Kelly Boston of Ennis, Texas, was pronounced dead on scene. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The front passenger was also wearing a seatbelt and was flown to St. Anthony’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Speed and alcohol / drugs are not considered factors in this crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
