There was a fatal hunting accident in Ashtabula County, Ohio after one man was shot in the forehead by another hunter.

The incident occurred in northeastern Ohio, near the border with Pennsylvania, in a wooded area near North Bend Road, west of Route 45, Sunday morning. 

Detectives reported that one hunter was pulling a gun up into a tree stand with a rope when it discharged, striking the victim who was at the base of the tree.

The County Coroner’s Office said 41-year-old Jared Windler of Saybrook Township was killed instantly when he was accidentally shot.
