COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It’s lights, camera, action in one neighborhood.
“It’s a dream come true for me,” said Samantha Rodbell, who lives nearby.
Two homes on West Pikes Peak Avenue is where you’ll find actors Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.
“We have a historic and diverse neighborhood here that we really are proud of. So, I think it’s a great opportunity for the neighborhood,” said Dave Seyfert, who also lives near the movie set.
The homes have been converted into movie sets for a new Netflix movie called, “Our Souls at Night.”
“You can understand better why it costs so much money and how many people are involved. It’s very complex,” said Gary Ammarell, a big fan of Fonda and Redford.
It’s based on a book written by Colorado author Kent Haruf, about a widow and widower in a small Colorado town who eventually develop a romantic relationship.
Monday marked the first day of shooting and some standing by were lucky enough to see the actors.
“I got to talk to Jane Fonda and got her to sign a dollar bill,” Ammarell said.
“I’ve always wanted to be an actress. And then I move here and they’re filming a movie. So, even thought I’m not in it, it’s still a great experience.” Rodbell said.
The film crew says they’ll be filming for the next 8 days and will move on to Florence for the next scene.
Some fans say they plan to follow along.
“I’m gonna get down to Florence if I’m home to see the filming down there too,” Ammarell said.
“Our Souls at Night” will be available on Nextflix next year.
