WESTCLIFFE, Colo. — The largest wolf enclosure in America is now complete and it’s located right here in the Centennial State.

Mission: Wolf is a 23-acre enclosure built by the WildHeart Foundation, whose mission is to enrich the lives of wild animals in captivity.

This new pen allows the wolves to have much more space than they’re used to.

Mission: Wolf hopes to break down the negative stereotypes of wolves through education with a mission to enrich the lives of wild animals in captivity.

“Before Europeans came over, there were over a million wolves in the lower 48 United States,” said Austin Hoffman of Mission: Wolf. “By the 1970s, there were less than 700, so it’s really vital that we educate people to let them know wolves are not to be feared.”

The enclosure took 10 years to complete.

Mission: Wolf is open every day of the year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.>> Click here to learn more about Mission: Wolf.>> Click here to learn more about the WildHeart Foundation.
