COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A group called Warrior Expressions is providing a way for veterans--especially those who have post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries--to have a different kind of therapy.
The art therapy group encourages veterans to draw, paint, play guitars, or write poetry.
Warriors First President Carl Anderson said it helps him to share through a creative outlet.
"It helps me out a lot, just because a lot of times I have trouble just sitting down and putting things into words," Anderson said. "So it helps me get things off my mind, or helps me process whatever I'm dealing with personally, just by having that creative outlet rather than trying to sit down face-to-face with someone and just talk about it. I've never been very good at that, personally."
The group has weekly meetings to keep up the camaraderie they had while serving.
