Christmas concert honors southern Colorado veterans and their families

A star-spangled Christmas concert was held Sunday to honor veterans and their families.

The event happened at the Center for American Values in Pueblo. The goal was to bring a little holiday cheer to those who have served our country.

Event organizer Matt Albright said families who are deployed have different stresses than others.

“Right now, thousands of men and women are overseas serving our nation, and are not home for Christmas,” Albright said. “And most of these veterans that are here tonight have been through the same thing. So those Christmases they missed, this is a great opportunity to thank them for the time they were away.”

Some veterans who were unable to afford a ticket were sponsored by local companies so they could still attend the show.
