Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence has announced a partnership with the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.
The formal partnership establishes regular office hours at the center, which directly supports the military community.
The organization is fairly new to Colorado Springs, and said their goal is to help after the crisis.
“What Break the Silence does in the community is the what’s after domestic violence,” Kristen Faith said. “When people think about domestic violence, they often think about the crisis that they are in when they are in that immediate situation. Well, what happens when they leave shelter? What happens when they already get their legal support? What happens when all of the crisis is over and they want to live their life after DV? Well, that’s where Break the Silence comes in. We come in as a community support, a network of sorts, to ensure survivors don’t feel like they are alone anymore.”
They said they partner with other local organizations because no one organization can do it alone.
