A group of more than 100 women from all over the state gathered at The Pinery in Colorado Springs to get a jump start in celebrating International Women’s Day.
“The difference that it makes when we get gender equality is the change to our economy. It changes so much for women and their families and men as well,” said Lisa Rice, CEO of Every Strength Counts.
A series of women speakers presented during the three-hour meeting. They discussed a variety of topics including women supporting women and the economic stance of women.
“Often times we don’t get the attention or the credit for the accomplishments we make,” said Lynette Jones, the 2019 chairperson for International Women’s Day in Colorado Springs.
Women of all ages were in attendance. This organization always celebrates International Women’s Day on the first Saturday of each March.
“I wish women’s rights had changed more than they have, but I will tell you we are standing on the shoulders of our fellow women who have faced a lot more suffering than any of us have,” said Rice.
