National Letter of Intent Signing Day doesn’t just have to be for athletes. Monday, students from Widefield School District 3 and Peyton School District signed contracts to work with local companies after high school graduation.
The students are signing to join the workforce and fill the gap in construction and manufacturing jobs.
“I want to be a cabinet manufacturer and welder, and really incorporate welding into cabinet manufacturing, and I want to start a business that way,” Widefield High School student Ta’tiana LaTorre said. “This is really going to help me channel that energy and do it.”
“It’s my first step into a career that I want to do,” Peyton High School student Treyston Whaley said. “It’s something I want to pursue, and hopefully, can make something out of it.”
The signing ceremony was held at the Manufacturing Industry Learning Lab. The students signed with companies including Concepts in Millwork, Lumen Electric, and Westside Designworks.
