A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Custer County Sunday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 11 a.m. Sunday on private property just off Highway 165 about four miles south of the intersection with Highway 96. Adelaide Everhart, 64, of Westcliffe was headed northbound in a 2013 Ford Escape when the car went off the right side of the road and hit a rock and a tree.

Everhart died on the scene. Troopers said she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Troopers said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
