Two found dead in car near Bear Creek Park in western Colorado Springs; suspect in custody

Local

Police are investigating after two people were found dead in a car near Bear Creek Park in western Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Police said their investigation began around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, when they got a call about a disturbance on Pacer Lane, which is in the area of North Carefree Circle and Oro Blanco Drive in northeastern Colorado Springs. While interviewing people there, they learned about a possible double shooting on the west side of the city. With little information to go on, officers started searching a large area in the foothills.

Then, around 9:20 p.m., police got a call about a suspicious car in the area of Gold Camp Road near Bear Creek Dog Park. When officers arrived, they found a man and woman shot dead inside the car.

Police said they are in the early stages of their investigation, and have not yet determined if the deaths were homicides or not.

UPDATE (April 23, 2018): One suspect is in custody in connection with this case, which police said “was not a random shooting.” Police also said the shooting is not related to another double shooting in southeastern Colorado Springs Sunday night

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 719-444-7000, or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).
