The Colorado State Patrol is looking for anyone who may have witnessed, or been involved in, a fatal crash on Interstate 25 near Larkspur early Monday morning.

The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. on southbound Interstate 25 near the Larkspur exit. Troopers said a 19-year-old man was near the west road edge when, for unknown reasons, he stepped into the traffic lane, directly in front of a box truck that was driving in the right lane. The man was hit by the truck and ended up in the left lane. Troopers believe a second vehicle then hit or ran over him.

Troopers said the box truck driver remained on the scene, but the driver of the second car did not. They said the second driver may have been unaware of what he or she hit. They said the second car may have minor damage as a result of the crash.

Troopers are asking anyone who was in that area of Interstate 25 at the time of the crash to come forward. They said they are not seeking charges against the second driver–they simply want information.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Colorado State Patrol at 303-239-4501. Reference case number #1C183745 .
