Toddler seriously injured in suspected DUI crash in northern Colorado Springs

A driver is facing DUI charges after a toddler was seriously injured in a rollover crash in northern Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon, according to police. 

Police said the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. on Roller Coaster Road near the intersection with Honey Run Way, which is just north of North Gate Boulevard. A car was headed southbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The car went into the oncoming lanes, went over the curb, came back onto the road, and flipped onto its roof, according to police. 

The driver and passenger were both hospitalized. The passenger, a toddler, was taken to Denver to be treated for serious injuries. Police said the toddler did not appear to be in a child seat. 

The driver, Claudia Castellano, was arrested on charges of DUI causing serious injury, along with an unrelated warrant.
