Colorado State Patrol has issued the following message to the public with an updated photo of fallen Trooper Cody Donahue, who gave his life on Nov. 25, 2016 when he was killed outside his patrol car while investigating a car crash.
“The Colorado State Patrol is proud of our family. Our family includes our members and their families. We remember those that gave their lives in service to Colorado and use their stories for fond memories and life lessons…
Since this great loss, Cody’s wife has taken the lead in spreading the important message of the Move Over law. Velma Donahue has used her loss to affect change and we are touched with her continuous support. Because of Velma’s work, the Move Over for Cody campaign has received national attention.
Our family received a request to change the photo being used when Cody is remembered. Velma Donahue, and the Donahue family, asked that we begin to use a photo of Cody that shows his big smile. So Cody can be remembered as the Trooper with the big smile.
Thank you from our family to our Colorado Family.”
