A 17-year-old boy from Texas was killed in a skydiving accident in Fremont County Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said the accident happened around 10:15 a.m. in a field near the Fremont County Airport, which is just north of Florence. The skydiving company, High Sky Adventures, called to report the accident, according to deputies.
The victim died on the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Deputies said this was the first time the victim had been skydiving, and he was diving alone.
An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday to determine how the teen died. Fremont County investigators, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating his death as an accident.
