Colorado Springs tattoo shop hosts fundraiser for Down syndrome association

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Dozens of locals are getting inked and raising hundreds for a good cause.

Fallen Heroes Tattoo in Colorado Springs hosted a fundraiser for the Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association on Sunday.

They were offering tattoos of three arrows. The three arrows signify the three additional 21st chromosomes that create the condition of Down syndrome.

Owner and artist Burke Lee said his aunt had Down syndrome and that's why this fundraiser means so much to him.

"She sought out hugs and hellos and that meant something to her," Lee said. "If that's a deficiently I'd sure love to have it. She was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever met. She lived to be 53. That's old when you have Down syndrome, but it was really a tough loss because she was a cool person."

Fifteen percent of all the tattoo fees went to the association.
