People from all corners of the world gathered in downtown Colorado Springs for their Winter Games celebration.
The ceremony kicked off with the help of former Olympic legend Eric Heiden, who lit the cauldron.
“It’s nice to be back here, every once in a while I get a chance to visit Colorado Springs and it really has a special place in my heart,” said Heiden.
Other Olympic athletes were invited to take part in the celebration, including Kamran Madani who will be representing the U.S. in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
“There’s so much pride, there’s nothing else to say about it, the support system from our country is next to none,” said Madani.
Heiden agrees and says there’s nothing more exciting than representing Team USA.
“It’s pretty nice when they give you that uniform with USA on the back,” said Heiden. “It means a lot to stand there.”
The night wrapped up with live entertainment, food sampling, and family-friendly activities.
