According to Colorado State Patrol, there were 10,359 DUI/DUID arrests in 2017.

CSP and local law enforcement agencies will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Cañon City the night of Super Bowl weekend. Officials say this will kick off a public education campaign, including sobriety checkpoints.

Officials say extra DUI enforcement will take place in El Paso, Fremont, and Pueblo Counties.

Right now officials are working with McDivitt Law Firm to arrange taxi rides for intoxicated people at restaurants and bars in Colorado Springs, Cañon City, and Pueblo following the Super Bowl.

Additionally, authorities are meeting with local bar and restaurant owners discussing a designated driver rewards program to encourage a sober driver remain sober to bring family and friends home.

More details will be released later this week.
