If you’re opting to order out instead of spending your Easter weekend in the kitchen, we want to tell you about a Colorado Springs Chinese restaurant with 11 health code violations and a Thai place without any violations in two years.
Put the chopsticks down and listen up before you head to Coal Mine Dragon on West Uintah near 17th Street.
Their latest health inspection on March 20 revealed eight critical violations and three non-critical violations including:
- An overall lack of food safety knowledge by employees.
- A repeat violation of food being held at dangerous temperatures.
- Another repeat violation of food and grease build-up on equipment coming in contact with food, just to name a few.
We reached out to the manager, but no one returned our call. This is why Coal Mine Dragon fails our Restaurant Report Card.
However, fresh, flavorful and safe cooking awaits at Arharn Thai.
Located in a shopping center on Bloomington Street near North Carefree Circle, Arharn Thai has been slicing up and sautéing for 10 years. Not to mention, they haven’t had a health code violation since 2016.
Born and raised in Bangkok, owner Pong Peanvanvanich tells FOX21 cleanliness comes with passion.
“It’s one thing I would say about my family and even my partner. We’re ladies, we love it clean. I’m concerned about people. Even if you have good food, it has to be healthy and clean,” said Peanvanvanich.
This is why Arharn Thai passes our Restaurant Report Card.
Peanvanvanich and her partner also have another restaurant on West Garden of the Gods Road called Eim Thai.
By the way, every place that fails our Restaurant Report Card, we do ask them to let us know when they have everything corrected and okayed by the health department. We’d love to come in and show folks they’ve cleaned up their kitchens.
