New Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar introduced his chief of staff Friday.
Laura Solano is a local woman with a long history of service in local and state education, finance, and recreation.
Gradisar received 35 applications for the job once the position was approved by the Pueblo city council. The mayor said many of the applicants had impressive credentials, but he and an advisory committee examined all the submissions and felt Solano was the best choice.
“It’s a great opportunity and near and dear to my heart to be able to take the traditions of the past and to know where we are currently, and then to work alongside the mayor to lay a stepping stone or build a bridge into where Pueblo is going into the future,” Solano said.
Solano will officially take over duties the week of May 1.
