A 17-year-old girl was hit and killed by a car while crossing a street in northeastern Colorado Springs Saturday night, according to police.
Police said the crash happened around 9 p.m. in the neighborhood northwest of Barnes Road and Peterson Road. The victim was crossing Pring Ranch Road at or near the intersection with Purcell Drive when she was hit by a car that was headed southbound.
Police said the woman was taken to the hospital, where she died Sunday.
Police said speed, alcohol, and drugs are not considered factors in the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver. Police said their investigation is continuing.
This is the 27th traffic-related death in Colorado Springs this year, and the sixth pedestrian to be killed. At this time last year, there were 22 traffic-related fatalities, including six pedestrians.
