A bank and post office in the Custer County town of Westcliffe were closed for several hours Tuesday while deputies investigated a package that was leaking a white powdery substance.

The sheriff’s office said the substance turned out to be non-narcotic medication.

The package was received at the post office Tuesday morning, then erroneously sent to the First State Bank. Both businesses were closed and the employees were quarantined until deputies determined the material was not hazardous.
