One person was killed in a one-car rollover crash on Union Boulevard in southern Colorado Springs Monday morning, according to police.
The crash happened around 10 a.m. on southbound Union Boulevard just south of Monterey Road. Police said Austin Palmer, 27, was headed southbound in a Volkswagon sedan when it hit the curb of the center median at the intersection of Union Boulevard and Hancock Expressway. The car went off the road and rolled, ejecting Palmer. He died on the scene. Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt.
Police said excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
This is the 16th traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year–the same number as this time last year.
