A new dog park opening soon in Falcon will feature a separate two-acre area for small dogs.
The new dog park is located within the 215-acre Falcon Regional Park, about 1,000 feet north of the baseball fields. A grand opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. April 20. It was originally scheduled for April 13, but was moved back due to weather.
The park includes 10 acres of fully-fenced land for off-leash dog activities, including a separate two-acre area for small dogs. There are also walking loops inside the park.
While the dogs are at play, owners will have access to benches, picnic tables, message boards, trash receptacles, and dog waste bag dispensers. The dog park has its own entrance off Eastonville Road.
Falcon Dog Park is the third dog park in the El Paso County park system, joining Bear Creek Dog Park and Fox Run Dog Park.
The park was funded by a $45,000 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado, $13,500 of El Paso County money, and $1,500 from Easter Plains Chamber of Commerce.
