Colorado nonprofit making a difference one brush stroke at a time

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Saturday, Brothers Redevelopment Inc.'s Paint-A-Thon painted their 100th house this year and their first one in Colorado Springs, thanks to a sponsorship from ANB Bank.

The nonprofit paints houses for low-income and disabled elderly people for free.

Paint-A-Thon volunteer manager Chad Nibbelink said it's really rewarding and it allows the homeowner to be able to pay for their basic necessities instead of paying to paint the house.

"There's nothing like being on Paint-A-Thon site and seeing the homeowner's face looking at their brand new house," Nibbelink said. "It's absolutely inspiring. It's incredible. It's one of the best feelings you can have is coming alongside your neighbor and seeing their whole demeanor change."

Nibbelink said all 15 volunteers live nearby, so they are also building community while helping others out.
