A motorcyclist was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in Pueblo County Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said the crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on United Avenue, which is near the Pueblo airport. Witnesses told deputies the motorcyclist was headed westbound when he suddenly sped up and passed several other drivers. He then lost control, hit a curb, and went off the road, where he hit a light pole and was ejected.
Deputies said the light pole fell across the road, hitting a GMC truck that was headed westbound. The truck sustained minor damage. The driver was not injured.
The motorcyclist’s name has not yet been released.
Deputies said excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
