One motorcyclist was killed and another was injured in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 south of Colorado Springs Friday night.
The Colorado State Patrol said the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on southbound Interstate 25 near exit 125, which is just south of Fountain. A 2007 Harley-Davidson was headed southbound when the driver lost control, went off the road, and hit a guardrail. The motorcycle continued southbound and sideswiped a 2015 Harley-Davidson, whose driver maneuvered it onto the left shoulder.
The 2007 motorcycle then went into the right lane, where it collided with a Pontiac. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected and died on the scene.
The motorcycle continued southbound and was hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe dragged the motorcycle until both vehicles caught on fire.
Troopers said the driver and passenger in the Tahoe got out before the fire started.
The name of the motorcyclist who died has not yet been released. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the other motorcycle sustained moderate injuries. Troopers said he was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Pontiac and the two people in the Tahoe were all wearing their seatbelts. Troopers said none of them were injured.
Troopers said alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
