Meetings to help Colorado Springs residents prepare for wildfires, flash flooding

The Pikes Peak region has experienced both devastating wildfires and flash flooding in recent years. That’s why the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management wants you to be prepared in case disaster strikes again.

“Do you have a go kit, if you’re going to be having to depart in case we have a wildfire in your part of the city or the county?” recovery coordinator Gordon Brenner said. “Do you have the ability to get insurance for certain things, so that if something does happen, that you’re prepared to bear that financial burden?”

Two community meetings will be held in Colorado Springs to help you prepare for wildfires and flash flooding. The first meeting is Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holmes Middle School at 2455 Mesa Road. The second meeting is May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gold Camp Elementary at 1805 Preserve Drive.
