Emma Crawford is a bit of a folk hero here in southern Colorado.
As the legend goes, she was buried on top of Red Mountain in Manitou Springs–but her coffin came flying down the mountain after a rainstorm. Since then, the town has honored her memory and legend each October with the Coffin Races and festival. Now, her story is coming to life onstage, thanks to dozens of students and teachers at Manitou Springs High School.
The three-movement musical suite will premiere during a sold-out performance at the Ent Center at UCCS on Friday.
In the video above, FOX21’s Shawn Shanle shows us how the production came together.
