A man who slid off a snowy road and crashed his pickup into a tree Friday night has died, according to police.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on Carmel Drive in southern Colorado Springs. Police said a pickup truck went off the road and hit a large tree, pinning the driver. The driver, 22-year-old Cristian Bridgewater, was extricated from the truck and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He died Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Police said inclement weather was a factor in the crash. They’re still working to determine if speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors.

Bridgewater’s death is the seventh traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year. That’s the same number as this time last year.
