COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Some local senior citizens are in full swing for Valentine's Day a little early as they worked on creating some valentines for local veterans.
"February is random acts of kindness," Hannah Confer, sales and marketing director for Brookdale Assisted Living, said. "We thought it was a good way to give back to the community and put a smile on their faces when they otherwise may not have had one."
The senior living community had a goal of making more than 1,000 total valentines. Some of the people who volunteered were veterans themselves.
"I guess I am lucky I am still alive," veteran Lyle Ladeforged said. "I had some really good stuff and some really bad stuff in Vietnam."
The residents will hand the valentines out to various veterans service locations across Colorado Springs on February 14 and 15.
