Koats 4 Kids fundraiser happening this week in Colorado Springs

Local

A fundraiser is happening this week for children in need.

This Friday marks the annual Koats 4 Kids fundraiser and hundreds of jackets will be collected for a low-income school in Colorado Springs.

Each year the fundraiser brings in about 500 coats and winter items for students in need.

This year Koats 4 Kids picked Monterey Elementary School in District 2.

“So this year Monterey Elementary is at 93 percent free or reduced lunch, so that means they only have four children who are able to pay for lunch in the whole District,” said Courtney Olson, the Committee Chair for Koats 4 Kids.

If you’d like to attend the fundraiser its happening this Friday from 5:30 to 9 PM at the Pinery on the Hill.

This year, the Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning is helping to put together the event.

Guests can enjoy a taco bar, drinks and music, plus a silent auction and door prizes.

To attend all you need to do is bring one, new winter coat for an elementary aged student.

If you can’t make the event, but still want to donate you can do so on the Koats 4 Kids website or drop off jackets directly to Monterey Elementary School.
