Juveniles playing with firecrackers start small grass fire in western Colorado Springs

Four juveniles playing with firecrackers started a small grass fire in western Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon, according to police. 

The fire started around 3:20 p.m. in the open space in the area of 25th Street and King Street. Firefighters quickly contained the fire. 

Police said four juveniles had remained on the scene and told first responders they had accidentally lit the fire while playing with firecrackers on the street. 

The juveniles were referred to an educational program about fire danger, then released to their parents. 

Police said no structures were damaged.
