Fort Carson soldier killed in action in Afghanistan

FORT CARSON, Colo. - A Fort Carson soldier was killed in action in Afghanistan Monday, the Army said Wednesday. 

Sgt. 1st Class Mihail Golin, 34, was a green beret with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan three times during his 12 years in the Army. He was awarded two Purple Hearts.

He arrived at Fort Carson in December 2014. 

Golin was originally from Fort Lee, New Jersey.
