The First Friday Art Bus now heads to Manitou Springs.
This free bus service now connects Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs, after a successful pilot program last year connecting downtown and Old Colorado City.
Just a few days ago, city council passed a resolution dubbing Manitou, Old Colorado City, and downtown as a “creative corridor.” Mayors John Suthers and Ken Jaray took the route Friday, and they’re encouraging people to get out to see the talent in our area.
“Spend a Friday night, first Friday of each month, take a couple of hours and take the shuttle buses,” Suthers said. “You can get on in a whole variety of places in town and see what our art community is all about, because there’s really some tremendous talent that we have locally, and it’s exhibited in our various art galleries that are available on these First Friday tours.”
The two cities are hoping to raise awareness for First Fridays, and get attendance up during the monthly art walks.
