Family wants answers from woman charged with killing fiancé

A bride-to-be accused of killing her fiancé with a steak knife over an argument about infidelity is set to appear in court this month.

Jacqueline Souza, 31, is accused of second-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Brandon Watkins.

Souza was arrested after the incident on July 21 at the couple’s home on Cabana Circle near North Powers and Dublin Boulevards in Colorado Springs.

Now Brandon Watkins’ family is opening up about the shocking death.

“Jacqueline Souza rage-killed my brother in a senseless act of domestic violence, all of the facts indicate that she ambushed him in order to stab him directly in the heart,” said Erika Watkins, sister of Brandon Watkins.

Erika is now fighting for answers and justice for her brother, saying her family was told that the El Paso County District Attorney’s office is considering not to file charges against Souza.

“Brandon was a beautiful person who served his country in the United States Army. He loved life, he loved everyone in his life and he was senselessly murdered in his own home, unarmed, did not one thing to cause being murdered in such a brutal and violent way,” said Erika.

Hoping to get their voices heard Erika says the family will be at the next hearing for Jacqueline Souza, which is set for October 19 and plan to speak before the judge.

FOX21 did reach out to the DA’s office and they declined to comment because this is an open case. They said at the hearing a prosecutor plans to make a statement.
