Families share their holiday traditions

Many businesses were closed Christmas Day, but a few were open welcoming holiday visitors including the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Garden of the Gods.

Right now the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is hosting its Electric Safari, which will stay open through January 1.

“We have family from out of town from Kansas and we go here every year just to see the lights and its just kind of a tradition,” said AJ Jorg, who was visiting the Electric Safari.

Many visitors to the zoo said they attend the Electric Safari on Christmas Day because it is less crowded.

“I think it’s quieter out and we thought that maybe it wouldn’t be so crowded and we just wanted to enjoy family time here at the zoo,” said Andrea Miller, who was visiting the Electric Safari.

Others spending their time outdoors on Christmas Day decided to trek it on over to Garden of the Gods.

“We heard about this place, it was like one of the only places open so we decided to come take a walk around,” said Jake Adams, who was visiting Garden of the Gods.

If you’d like to see the Electric Safari its happening every day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo through January 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
